Last Night :: Every Night :: Tomorrow Night

tribe of the grey cat

2002-01-13

Something about Joy, laundry, blankets.

In a classroom, milling about. Everyone seems to be in their late teens, and the class doesn't seem to have a direction at this point, as if it's before class time. There are two boys, joking at the front. Another guy ran in, carrying a little plastic bottle with some sort of creamy substance in it, looking very excited. Giggling, he told the two other boys that it was lip balm he had made in home economics. The two boys dipped in and all three of them glossed up their lips, giggling. They declared it to taste really good. One of them, still giggly, in hushed tones, suggested they go find people to share it with... meaning that they should find some boys to kiss.

The other boys thought this was a grand idea, and two of them, including the one who made the lip balm, headed off through the classroom to find willing boys. The remaining boy dawdled behind for a minute, perhaps to get his coat or something. A girl came up, an obvious nerd. She wore a little white t-shirt with a print on the front, and pink shorts which she had pulled up high on her waist. She was very small, flat-chested, looking younger than the others, pale and blond, but she was confident in her own way. She reached out and tasted the lip balm with a finger. The boy frowned and looked slightly disgusted. He tried to tell her that it belonged to the boy who had made it, but she didn't listen to him, and dipped in again, apparently pleased with the taste. Shaking his head bemusedly, he said, "It's lip balm, you put it on your lips."

She smirked at him and picked up the plastic container defiantly. She pulled open her shorts at the front, and stuck the container and her hands down, making bold, suggestive movements. The boy let out a splutter of surprise and swore in disbelief. She pulled the container out and rubbed a little on her belly, sensually.

The boy seemed rather shocked and tottered away to find his friends. The girl smirked and laughed and went off to do her own thing.

I stood against some desks, feeling fairly peaceful. A girl started walking over to me. She was slightly gothy, wearing a dark skirt, and she had long dark hair. She was on the heavy side, round, with pale skin. She was very beautiful. She approached me, looking somewhat shy. "Would you date me?" she asked.

I thought about it for a minute. I considered specifying what dating meant... did it mean that we would be girlfriends, sort of steady, or was she inviting me on a single date? I decided it didn't matter, because I liked her, and I said yes, smiling.

We went to a sort of bluff. It was a ridge that overlooked a sort of field. Growing on the edge of the craggy hill was a bare desiduous tree, which we peered through to see those below. My girlfriend wasn't human. She was a kind of cat or werecat, that was half tiger, and half something else. Her people were stocky, large felines, heavier in the fore, with short flat tails and heavy heads. They were shades of grey, with black stripes.

The grey cats were a fierce, strong race. My girlfriend was going to teach me their ways and initiate me into their tribe, helping me to become a grey cat myself. I assumed my feline form, and stood on the rocky crag, gazing down through the stark branches of the tree at a woman in the field. To be a grey cat, the initiate must pass through several levels of learning and skill. I was in my second level and had my cat form. As I watched, my girlfriend reached the third level, and became her new form. She was human again, but non-corporeal, and could pass through things. She walked across the field past the woman. She could take her feline form at will.

There was a disaster, which led the grey cats to panic. Another female in the tribe hated me, and was resentful of my presence there. She took the disaster as an opportunity to turn my girlfriend against me. She fed her lies, and tried to keep her from me. My girlfriend felt swayed and confused, and in the height of the disaster, as we cowered on the rocks in human form, the trecherous woman told her she must kill me. The woman shot me with a paralyzing ray, and scrambled over the rocks towards safety, leaving my girlfriend and I alone on the bluff, myself unable to move, and my leg trapped in the rocks. My girlfriend didn't hesitate; she hated the woman now, and she pulled me free, and carried me over her shoulder to safety, following the evil woman.

She caught up with the woman in an abandoned part of a dark, gritty city. We were in a flat, concrete area, hemmed in by grey, nondescript buildings. I lay to the side, unable to move, but watching.

The woman and my girlfriend circled each other, threatening. They exchanged threats. There was a fight, as they sought to control each other, and each wanted to paralyze the other. In the end, they were both paralyzed.

Some authorities, including a heavyset older man who was apparently a detective, eventually arrived on the scene, where we all lay frozen. They couldn't figure out what had happened at first. Somehow they accessed my girlfriend's memories, or she had sent a projection of what happened before she was paralyzed.

The detective said, "Glad we got that figured out." They set about unparalyzing my girlfriend and I, and the woman would be taken away as a criminal.
